Experienced leaders in the care of the chronically critically ill write and validate the CLLP™ examination. Our Subject Matter Expert panel is how the field builds its own examination.
The work that builds the credential itself.
Subject Matter Experts build the technical foundation of the CLLP™ examination: the job task analysis that defines its competency domains, the writing and review of examination items, and the standard-setting studies that inform the passing standard the Credentialing Board adopts. It is specialized, structured work governed by psychometric protocols, and it is distinct from the knowledge-building work of the Fellows Program.
How the panel works
Who we're looking for
Leaders whose careers include significant experience caring for chronically critically ill patients, in a long-term acute care hospital, a ventilator weaning or prolonged-stay unit, a skilled nursing pulmonary or ventilator program, an inpatient rehabilitation facility serving medically complex patients, a hospital-at-home program, or a corporate or consulting role supporting any of them.
Every function contributes to this examination, clinical and non-clinical alike: operations, nursing, medicine, therapy and respiratory care, quality and risk, case management, finance and revenue cycle, human resources, materials management, facilities, and health information management. Training in item writing and psychometric method is provided.
Panel service is reserved for experts with no role in developing, selling, or teaching CLLP™ preparation material.
A note on independence
Subject Matter Expert participation is a technical, structured contribution to examination development under the Credentialing Board's governing protocols. Panel members serve under the Subject Matter Expert Confidentiality and Participation Agreement, which protects the security of every examination item. Certification decisions for individual candidates rest exclusively with the Credentialing Board, and no compensation of any kind is tied to the certification results of any candidate.
